Native to Indonesia and Malaysia, Longjack is used as a modern testosterone booster but its roots (literally) go back for centuries as an herbal medicine.
Also known as “tongkat ali” or by it’s scientific name “eurycoma longifolia” the root extract has been shown to increase erection strength, increase libido and provide a positive feeling of overall sexual well-being. (1)
Longjack Lowers Cortisol
Supplementation with Longjack has shown a direct correlation with the lowering of cortisol concentrations which is very important in decreasing stress and elevating your mood. Both crucial elements in maximizing testosterone.
So it comes as no surprise there has also been a direct correlation between supplementation of the root and an increase in strength, lean body mass and of course higher T levels. (2, 3, 4)
Longjack is Anti-Estrogenic
Longjack has actually out performed tamoxifen in a scientific case study and tamoxifen is a prescription estrogen-blocker.
If this translates to the human body as well, it will be another big reason to supplement with Longjack.
However, as of now these tests have only been performed on rats and in petri-dishes, not in actual human studies.
Until we see the results from a human study, it’s usually best to be hopeful but highly skeptical as more often than not, the results in human trials come back much different than the tests with rats.
Longjack Increases Testosterone
Longjack was given to moderately stressed men and the results were astounding to say the least. Posted in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition (3) this study showed major improvements in:
- Tension -11%
- Confusion -15%
- Anger -12%
- Salivary Cortisol -16%
- Testosterone +37%
When you see a decrease in cortisol in a man, you often see an increase in testosterone as well. This is because the more stress you have the more cortisol you produce and cortisol directly interferes with testosterone production.
A 37% increase is off the charts though!
The results of the test were confined to men who self-rated themselves in the moderate stress category, so we don’t know if the outcome would have been as good had it been performed on men who said they didn’t have any stress.
With that said, I don’t know a single man who doesn’t have stress in his life be it from work, family, sports competitions, etc…
Exercise Induced Stress
If you lift weights, run or do any kind of physically demanding work such as construction you put your body through what’s called “exercise induced stress”.
This can also lower your testosterone levels but Longjack appears to work well at counteracting that kind of stress as well!
Longjack has been proven in scientific case studies to increase T levels, elevate mood, increase strength, muscles mass and libido and decrease the stress hormone profile.
It should be a part of your daily supplementation.
